594th Regular Concert (Media Coverage: Updated January 16th)
At the 594th Regular Concert on January 22nd and 23rd, Tatsuya Shimono will conduct a concert performance of Bartók's opera "Bluebeard's Castle." This will be the first time an opera has been featured at a Regular Concert since the 470th Regular Concert in 2013.
The work begins with the appearance of a minstrel (Tanaka Munetoshi), but the story only features two characters: Bluebeard (Miyamoto Masumitsu) and his wife Judith (Ishibashi Emi). The story is structured like a dialogue drama, making it easy to understand (subtitles are provided). Additionally, the lighting changes every time the doors to the seven rooms in Bluebeard's castle open (according to the composer's instructions).
Don't think too hard about it, just enjoy it. Click here for the performance information page. *Messages from the performers have been added.
